The King Home is a combination waterstone designed for sharpening kitchen knives, razors and woodworking tools. With two grit levels — 220 and 1000 — it covers coarse material removal, edge repair and the restoration of a good working edge.
220 grit — coarse grinding and edge repair
The coarse side is intended for initial grinding, removing larger amounts of material, repairing damaged edges and changing blade geometry. It is useful for very dull knives or blades that require more substantial correction.
1000 grit — everyday sharpening
The 1000-grit side is suitable for sharpening dull edges and carrying out minor repairs. It removes metal efficiently and can produce a very good working edge, even on medium-quality knives.
King stone characteristics
Compared with basic economy stones, King can be considered an upper-budget option. Its manufacturing process includes shaping and firing, which helps reduce wear during sharpening. However, achieving the best results may require a little more experience and patience.
The stone develops an abrasive slurry during use, helping the sharpening process remain efficient and even. As the stone wears, regular flattening is necessary to maintain a level working surface.
Preparation and maintenance
Soak the stone in water for at least five minutes before use. Because it wears during sharpening, flatten it regularly with a suitable flattening stone or diamond flattening tool.
The stone includes a non-slip stand to help keep it stable during sharpening.
